Skateboarding Mainstream

Submitted by Jonas Ferreira | RSS Feed | Add Comment | Bookmark Me!

Skateboarding has been around since the 50's when west coast surfers originally got the idea to surf on the streets. They used wooden boxes with roller skates attached to the bottom. It grew in popularity and companies were built to meet the demand for boards. In the mid 70's skateboarding took a revolutionary turn towards what it is today when urethane wheels were invented. There have been many rise and declines in popularity but has held through to the mainstream industry that it is today. It is now a common sport that has steadied to become part of American culture.
